Hooky brings in his Aunty Jean and a box of superb tunes to play and chat about with Doug Lyon.

A great radio accompaniment to ’24 Hour Party People’ and ‘Control.’ Produced and presented by Doug Lyon, this special broadcast helped this initially temporary radio station get a permanent license.

The Making of “Eye-I” documentary

Here’s my film (final show work) “Eye-I” from the Masters in Digital Media Art

Recorded September 2010 on a CAHMS (Child and adolescent mental health services) weekend radio workshop with Lyonheart Training.

Using radio production as a process, this group of mental health service users, had the opportunity to work with public speaking, cooperative problem solving, creative communication for a specific audience, role play, debating, research, focus finding, working to a deadline.

All team roles contained the need for individual accountability and responsibility and the possibility to excel through effective collaboration.

All individuals will have a deep understanding of at least one key production role, and an overview of all others. All will be familiar with a radio studio and how it works, and able to work effectively on their own and in a group to tight deadlines.

All individuals were offered the opportunity to learn something beyond their previous experience. It was challenging and fun for this group of young people to target the elders on the same workshop as their audience.

now-ic community radio/workshop showreel

A 5:25″ mix of community radio and workshops with a diverse range of participants and themes. Young adults leaving care are given a voice, school refusers in Learning Support Units get to unpack and voice their issues and Doug role plays in these debates to stimulate reflection and useful communication. Glimpses too of community radio at it’s best on Salford Community Radio which Doug helped set up and eventually be awarded a permanent license.

Hosted at Trinity College Leeds, these radio shows were recorded live on day three of this intense taster of both university and media production.

At the right hand side of each sound file (seen as a wave image) you can click on ‘info’ to see the details and the down arrow to download the file. You can also grab the embed code </> and post it yourself on your MySpace or Facebook. Great shows, well done! Enjoy!
